Accent walls are an amazing way to add visual interest and texture to a room!

Pinterest is packed with photos of super creative designs but if you’re not a skilled carpenter the thought of doing one on your own is probably as horrifying as the price you’d pay a contractor to do it for you.

Faux Shiplap

Simply stack 1x6 pine boards horizontally with a small gap (about the width of a nickel) between each board. You can paint them white for a shiplap look or stain them if you like the look of a wood accent wall.

Board & Batten

Run1x2 or 1x3 pine vertically from the baseboard to the ceiling (put a board at the ceiling line as well for a more finished look). They should be evenly spaced intervals along the wall and can be nailed directly to the drywall

Shadow Box Trim

Home improvement stores sell a variety of these thin moldings that you can use to create a variety of looks. For our office we opted to do 3 separate boxes to make it more ornate. There are also pre-assembled kits you can find online!
